Asahi Nama Beer Commercial with Kouhei Matsushita (松下洸平)

Here are two new Asahi Nama Beer Commercial with Kouhei Matsushita (松下洸平). Enjoy an Asahi Nama beer with Kouhei at an Izakaya, and then at home, after a long day’s work. I still love the puns with these commercials.

The phrase (?) “おつかれさま” (otsukaresama) can have many different meanings depending upon the situation in which it is used. It is often used at the end of the workday, and is said when leaving the workplace. It generally means something like “thanks for the hard work today”, or “excuse me for leaving work before you”, or “I’m done I’m going home”. But generally used when leaving work, or when someone has done something difficult for you.

The pun here is that “fresh” beer, or more appropriately draft beer, is called “生” (nama). So, in these commercials they say “おつかれなま” (otsukarenama). In a sense saying that this Asahi beer is something that can be enjoyed after a long day at work, or after you have done something exhausting. This is the beer to have when you are worn out and are trying to relax after physical or mental exertion.
