“日本語って” Japanese Podcast – Japanese Language Learning Podcast Review

The “日本語って” JapanesePodcast is for intermediate/advanced Japanese speakers. Eriko Kasai, a teacher of the Japanese langauge, describes her podcast as being targeted at people who are learning Japanese, and those who want to teach Japanese. So, we are talking about a fairly difficult podcast to listen to for those who are lower than an intermediate level of Japanese. That being said, Eriko only speaks Japanese on the podcast episodes. She speaks at an average speed, and speaks clearly enough to be able to understand what she is saying. This would also be a great podcast to listen to for shadowing.

Eriko began uploading episodes of the “日本語って” Japanese podcast during October 2020. She has made a total of about 44 episodes, posting an average of 2 to 4 episodes each month. There are a few months where she only produced 1 episode of the podcast. Each episode averages somewhere between 5 to 10 minutes long. So, there are not many episodes of this podcast yet. But, teaching Japanese, posting on Instagram, making videos for YouTube, and doing this podcast must take up a lot of time. I applaud anyone that attempts to take on that much creation and work.

Eriko also has a YouTube channel where she posts the podcast episodes with the text shown in the videos. This is great for following along and for reading practice. She also posts a variety of other videos like short Japanese lessons with Japanese text on the video. She has been doing a livestream every week recently, and she also has an Instagram account where she posts lessons and short videos.
