“[Learning Japanese] ManoNihongo” – Podcast for Japanese Language Learning Review
The “[Learning Japanese] ManoNihongo” Podcast for Japanese language learning is for intermediate Japanese language learners. This podcast is produced by “Mano”, and is entirely in spoken Japanese. Mano is a Japanese language teacher, and makes this podcast for shadowing practice. Shadowing is where you repeat what someone else has said, in order to practice pronunciation. Mano speaks at a normal pace, and also speaks clearly so that it is easy to understand what she is saying.
Mano started uploading episodes of the “[Learning Japanese] ManoNihongo” podcast in March of 2021. She now has over 360 episodes of the podcast available. That is almost an episode everyday. But in reality, Mano occasionally misses a few days, and then uploads multiple episodes in one day. Either way, there are a lot of episodes available. Each episode averages only 4 minutes in length.
For the first 65 episodes, she talks about idioms that are related to body parts. She focuses on one idiom for each episode. After that, episodes focus on a compound verb, or pronunciation of a specific word. At podcast number 171, she also starts talking about transitive and intransitive verbs. She also has a topic titled “multiple meaning verbs”. And, even though she says that the main point of the “[Learning Japanese] ManoNihongo” podcast is shadowing, there are only 29 episodes titled “shadowing” at this time. In reality, you can shadow anything that you want to, so this is not really a negative point.
Mano has a website, and also provides private Japanese lessons. I really like listening to this podcast, as the episodes are short and easy to understand. On her website, she has transcripts for every episode of the podcast. Very helpful for following along, or just getting a little bit of reading practice.
