Interesting Items of the Week – 2021 06 20
Short (sometimes) videos or stories about interesting Japanese culture, language, entertainment, and many other things.
I love the outdoors. Especially here in Japan with all the crowded public places in the cities. I feel that most times, even when you are in a smaller city, there are just too many people around and too much city noise. Welcome to this week’s discoveries of the outdoors!
Check out this channel about cooking in the outdoors: ALPHA TEC. Nothing better than the sounds of a running river, birds singing, and a steak sizzling over a fire. The steak in the video below is one of the most beautiful steaks that I have ever seen. I’d like to try cooking campfire style, but some of this guy’s cooking is just a little too involved for me. I can imagine the difficulty of cleaning up after some of these meals. As mentioned, this steak cooking video is awesome (5:44):
And this bacon panini video reminds me of that guy, somewhere is Eastern Europe I think, that goes out in the woods and cooks using the river water or melted snow and other natural ingredients. You know, the guy with the owl. Watch this bacon panini being made (8:20)
This guy at morinone puts together some outdoor videos with high quality production. So calming to watch. Making coffee outdoors is a favorite, along with this one below about cooking bamboo shoots and life in the Japan countryside (11:29), English voiceover version here:
“Solo Camping” is a term that I have increasingly heard in the past few years. Seems to be that it is going camping by yourself. Even though sometimes, you may still be camping with a group of people, they call it solo camping. I don’t know what a “violent dessert” is, but this solo camper says that he made one. This Channel has a lot of videos and mainly reviews camping products.
