This is something that you might see out hiking around Japan in certain areas. There will often be signs warning of bears, boar, or monkeys. But this is for another wild animal that could do you some harm out there in the woods of Japan. I haven’t seen one in the wild yet, but most certainly will some day. 注 (チュウ) – pour; concentrate on; notes; comment
意 (イ) – idea; mind; thought
マムシ – pit viper (type of snake)
注意 – caution; attention; notice; heed; precuation
